According to the Iraqi Ministry of Oil, SOMO, the Iraqi state oil marketing organization, and Sinopec initially signed a joint development contract for the Mansuriya gas field with a planned daily output of 300 million cubic feet (about 8.5 million cubic meters).
The Mansuriya gas field, located in the eastern province of Diyala in Iraq, has reserves of about 4.5 trillion cubic feet (about 127.5 billion cubic meters).

In April 2021, a consortium formed by Sinopec and Iraqi state-owned oil company Midland Oil Company won a gas field development contract in a tender, in which Sinopec holds a 49% interest.
Iraqi Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar said at the signing ceremony: "This contract will help increase gas production from the Mansuriya gas field, Iraq's second largest gas field." The Iraqi Oil Ministry said in a message "The most important objective of this contract is to increase production to 300 million cubic feet per day, thereby ensuring the operation of power plants and various industrial enterprises, and creating employment opportunities for the people of Yarra."
